All five of us packed up and headed out to the Goat Rocks for the Fourth of July weekend. It was one of the hottest weekends on record and this reflected in our backpacking. We set out to hike the loop that starts at the Snowgrass Flats Trailhead, to Goat Lake and ends at the Berry Patch Trailhead. When we arrived at the trailhead, the parking lot was packed. We dropped off our packs and J-Hawk and I planned to relocate the car to Berry Patch TH and hike the half mile over to the start of the Snowgrass Flat TH.
As we pulled packs out of the car, J-Hawk pulled out his hiking boots (two right boots, one of them two sizes bigger than he wore). Jonathan pulled out the arch support, turned it around to line up with his left foot arch and hoped for the best. J-Hawk never complained over the next three days.
